The story of QAMA begins years ago, during one of the most urgent humanitarian crises in recent memory. With Afghanistan in turmoil, tens of thousands faced displacement and an uncertain future. In response, Qatar became a critical hub for rescue and relief efforts, orchestrating an unprecedented evacuation operation.
Over 700 evacuation flights, supported by Qatar Airways, carried more than 60,000 individuals through Doha, offering a lifeline to those fleeing Kabul. Central to this massive effort was Qatar’s swift and decisive action in restoring Kabul’s airport operations. In collaboration with international partners, Qatar’s team repaired and reopened the airport, enabling over 60 flights within just nine days. This logistical achievement laid the foundation for safe evacuations and provided a passage to hope for thousands.

Qatar’s support extended far beyond transportation. For the 80,000 evacuees hosted in Doha, the experience was marked by care, dignity, and opportunity.
